Everyone knows an egg is roughly half a prolate and half a spherical ellipsoid.
Unless it’s perfectly spherical, like the one fund by Kim Broughton.
She was going to use it to make pancakes for breakfast, but instead she’s decided to sell the one-in-a-billion discovery for charity.
Mrs Broughton, 44, said: ‘I did not notice that the egg was round until I got it inside the house and washed it off.
‘It’s absolutely amazing – I have never seen anything quite like it. It really is perfectly round.
‘The eggs tend to get bigger as the hens get older but I’ve not had anything like this before.’
The Broughton family from Latchingdon, Essex are hoping the ovum will reach similar heights as another spherical egg in 2012, which netted a lucky seller £91, for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Bidding is currently at £22 after 15 bids, but there are still five days left till the bidding window is closed.
