It’s not yet clear if the next iPhone release is going to be a major version of the smartphone, or simply an iterative upgrade. If there are major new features, the device is likely to be called the iPhone 7, while an iPhone 6s will arrive if Apple decides to leave the major upgrade until next year.
The iPhone 7 probably won’t arrive until October as specs like the Force Touch taptic engine will drive the production of the device back. The iPhone 6s, however, is likely to be released around the same time as the iPhone 6 appeared last year. That means that users should expect the device to arrive in September 2015.
Regardless of which devices arrive this year, it’s likely that the specs of the iPhone 7 or iPhone 6s will allow some increase in average selling price, a good sign for investors.
