India have it all when it comes to technology.
Sony has launched its new Alpha 7R II, RX10 II and RX100 IV cameras in India with XGA OLED Viewfinder, 4K video recording and up to 40x super slow motion capture.
Sony Alpha 7R II is the first full-frame mirrorless camera with back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS Sensor and BIONZ image processing engine. The new image sensor is capable of capturing high resolution image up to 42.4 megapixels. The new interchangeable lens camera has 399 focal plane AF points with phase detection. The camera shoots at ISO range of 100 to 25600 further expandable to ISO 50 to 102400.
With increase in megapixel, the image sensitivity gets affected. With Alpha 7RII, Sony has introduced 5-axis image stabilisation system designed to complement the high resolution image sensor. The Alpha 7R II is also capable of shooting 4K videos in full-frame or 35mm equivalent crop mode. Sony says “the camera collects wealth of information approximately 1.x as many pixels as 4K in Super 35mm mode without pixel binning or oversampling”.

Sony RX10 II is capable of shooting 4K videos for up to 29 minutes
Sony extended its Cyber-shot RX range with the launch of RX10 II and Sony RX100 IV. The RX100 IV is the compact point-and-shoot while RX10 II is high zoom camera. Both the cameras feature new 1.0 type stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor featuring a new DRAM memory chip contrary to older Exmor R CMOS sensors. RX10 II is available at a price of Rs 94,990.
The RX100 IV features a Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T 24-70mm F1.8-F2.8 lens while the new RX10 II comes with high zoom Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T 24-200 lens with constant F2.8 aperture. The cameras also feature a 180-fdegree tiltable LCD and XGA OLED Tru-Finder for viewing clear pictures.
The new RX100 IV has the same image sensor as RX100 III but is now capable of shooting at 1000fps and 4K videos for up to 5 minutes
The new Cyber-shot RX cameras are capable of shooting 960/1000 fps, 480/500 fps and 240/250 fps videos. These slow motion videos can be played back at 60p/50p, 30p/25p and 24p formats. The RX100 IV is capable of capturing fast-moving subjects at up to 16fps while RX10 II is capable of up to 14fps for an extended period of time.
The new cameras come with maximum shutter speed of 1/32000 second with a wide open aperture and with exposure value of EV19, the camera can shoot even at very bright lighting conditions. The biggest to new RX series is 4K video recording. The new cameras can shoot 4K (3840 x 2160) videos through the use of XAVC S codec at a high data rate of 100Mbps during 4K and 50Mbps at full HD recording.
Sony RX100 IV can shoot 4K videos and super slow motion videos at up to 1000fps
The RX100 IV can record 4K videos for up to 5 minutes in length while RX10 II can shoot 4K videos for up to 29 minutes with ability to capture 16.8 megapixel still images simultaneously.
However, the camera is priced Rs 69,900, almost Rs 20,000 more than the last generation. Asked about this huge jump in price, Sony India’s head for the digital imaging business said this was because the latest generation was offering 4K and slow motion video, both of which are not available on the earlier cameras. “For those who need to shoot just stills, we are still recommending RX100 III,” he told IndianExpress.com.
Sony also announced that an SDXC memory card of Class 10
is needed for recording 4K XAVC S data.
