Apple has begun selling the 38mm Modern Buckle band separately from the Apple Watch, a development first spotted by Mac Rumors. It writes:

The Modern Buckle is made from Granada leather sourced from a single small tannery in France, which may explain why it has been available in such limited quantities. So, good news consumers! Another high-end band is available to mix and match with your device. I mean watch, err, smartwatch…I mean Apple Watch.
You’ll have to forgive me: for a while I forgot about the Apple Watch’s second raison d’être: it is also a very lovely timepiece.
It is understandable.

When it was announced that Best Buy would begin selling the Apple Watch that placed it firmly and decisively in the next-gen mobile gadget category. The mainstream next-gen mobile gadget category.
Salesforce.com’s introduction of 20 or so partner apps last week pushed the Apple Watch even further into that territory.
