Mercedes-Benz have launched AMG C 63 S

There has been a great competition from Japanese companies of late, but the great Mercedes-Benz never gives up. Mercedes-Benz has launched the new generation of its highest selling AMG model ever, the all new AMG C 63 S.

The tenth high performance AMG model to be launched in the Indian market, the AMG C 63 S augments the model range of Mercedes-Benz's best-seller, the new C-Class, even further. The new Mercedes-AMG C 63 S is a powerful high-end rear-wheel drive sports car powered by a 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine, developing an output of 375 kW (510 hp), making the V8 model the most powerful car in its segment. The new AMG C 63 S was launched by Eberhard Kern, managing director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India.

Globally, the new Mercedes-AMG C 63 S continues the success story of its predecessors, the C 63 AMG, C 55 AMG, C 32 AMG, C 43 AMG and C 36 AMG. With sales of around 40,000 units globally, the C 63 AMG presented in 2007 is also the best-selling AMG model to date. The brand-new C 63 S, the top V8 model in the C-Class, is a seamless follow-on.

The rated output for the AMG C 63 S is 375 kW (510 hp) at 5500-6250 rpm, while the torque is 700 Nm at 1750-4500 rpm. The C 63 S Saloon is also the most economical eight-cylinder car in the high-performance segment. The AMG Ride Control sports suspension with electronically controlled shock absorbers, the mechanical rear axle locking differential and the AMG Dynamic Select transmission modes raise the driving dynamics to a new level.

The transmission plays a major part in the direct and sporty character of the new Mercedes-AMG C 63 S. The great variability of the AMG Speedshift MCT 7-speed sports transmission is shown by the wide variety of transmission modes. There is a choice between: Comfort, Sport, Sport and Individual Race.

The AMG Performance Package includes the AMG high-performance composite braking system; the AMG performance exhaust system with selectable flap control; the AMG Ride Control sports suspension; the AMG electronic rear-axle limited-slip differential and the Active Dynamic Engine Mount.

The sensual clarity in the design of the AMG C 63 S is inspired from motorsport and reflects its fascinating technology. Its aluminium bonnet is graced by distinctive power domes, giving a muscular look along with the wider wings.

The "twin blade" radiator grille with AMG lettering lowers the vehicle's visual centre of gravity. The rear end diffuser insert with three fins is a feature carried over from motorsport. The two chrome-plated twin end pipes of the AMG sport exhaust system are perfectly integrated into the diffuser.

LED Intelligent Light System with integral daytime driving lamps offer smart lighting. AMG high-performance composite brake system with composite brake discs and red-painted brake callipers with "AMG" lettering are the other distinctive feature.

In terms of interiors, the AMG C 63 S' careful choice of select, first-class materials and their precision craftsmanship spells luxury. The dashboard is finished in ARTICO man-made leather. Contrast top stitching is in crystal grey.

The AMG instrument cluster with AMG main menu includes RACE TIMER and fine aluminium trim. AMG performance steering wheel in nappa leather / DINAMICA microfiber. There is Sports seats with AMG specific seat upholstery layout and optimised lateral support for greater driving pleasure. The head-up display is a new feature standard in the AMG C 63 S. It projects important information such as vehicle speed, racetimer, navigation information, upshift indicator etc. onto the windscreen.

The special head-up windscreen with its wedge-shaped laminated foil eliminates double images produced by reflections on the outer and inner boundary surfaces of the windscreen. The virtual colour display measuring 21 x 7 cm appears to float on the bonnet at a distance of about two meters from the driver.

A light sensor located near the top edge of the roof automatically adjusts the brightness of the head-up display to the exterior lighting conditions. Brightness levels of 10,000 cd/m² plus can be achieved on sunny days. Because the contrast ratio is better than 1000:1, the system produces a high-quality display even in the dark.
