Here’s How to Disable Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) Windows 10 Automatic Upgrade

 loveswaggs     13:15:00     Microsoft     No comments

Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT) released Windows 10 in the summer of 2015 and it was dubbed as the operating system which would rescue users from the Start Menu-free OS that was Windows 8.Not long after, though, automatic upgrade started going off. Some users have even reported automatic upgrades without them granting the permission to do so. This attitude has frustrated many users, and ticked off several others.

Now, there is one method for users which can prevent any such automatic upgrade. Meet Never 10, a free Windows app which disables the OS upgrade. We’ll take you through a step by step guide to installing the software and putting it to use. So that you can keep your OS of choice until you like, and not have any forced upgrade from a company aiming for a record number of active devices hold you back.
Never 10 is written by Steve Gibson, the same person behind successful and popular Windows freeware like SpinRite and ShieldsUp! among others.
  • Download Never 10 1.3 from here. Click on Save File once the popup is displayed to download the client.
Once downloaded, open the Never 10 file. On the very first screen, you will be informed if your PC is already home to unwanted Windows 10 pre-download files, sometimes weighing several gigabytes of storage. Simply click the “Remove Win10 Files” to get rid of them in the snap of your fingers.
  • Another issue some users could encounter is that their Windows Update version could be outdated. In which case, click on the “Install Update” button at the bottom to get over this step of the process.
  • Once you’re done with the update, a message displayed on the first screen will let you know that the automatic Windows upgrade is, in fact, enabled. To disable automatic upgrade to Windows 10, simply press the “Disable Win10 Upgrade” button at the bottom of the screen.
Complete this process and you’re done. You will now be able to use Windows 7 or 8.1 for as long as you want, and you would be able to upgrade whenever you like. Please let us know in the comments if you hit any roadblock in the process.
