This Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS Could Fetch $1 Million

The Porsche 911 is one of the most timeless car designs on the planet. the Oblong body shape and engine hanging off the rear end is just too weird to even try to duplicate. As such these cars hold their value incredibly well, and one going to auction soon could command as much as a million dollars.

The vehicle you see here is a 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 Touring. This year and model ranks among the most desirable among the 911s, and this one is a nearly perfect example. Going on the block next Thursday for the RM/Sotheby’s auction on December 10

So what makes the RS 2.7 so special? Technically displacing 2,687cc, he single overhead cam, air-cooled flat six made no more than 210 horsepower, but in the day, that was more than enough to get the 911 moving faster than most other cars on the road. Air-cooled Porsches have become extremely sought-after, and according to RM, this example is nearly perfect.

Porsche originally made the RS 2.7 as a homologation special so that it could take the 911 racing in a then-new series created for production-based sports cars. Road-going versions were either designated Lightweight (option M471) or Touring (option M472). This car was the latter, boasting lavish features like a sunroof, full carpeting, and air conditioning.

The year, model, version and options all make this possibly one of the most perfect Porsches on the market today. It is no surprise that this car has been valued between $9,000,000 and $1,100,000, and once the hammer falls, could go for even more!
